Community Involvement

Feeding our Community Distribution Center Project The charitable food distribution center project in Pasco makes it possible for Second Harvest to significantly increase the amount of donated fresh produce, dairy, meat and other food provided to food banks and meal centers that are feeding more hungry people than ever before in southeastern and south central Washington. The first phase of the Feeding our Community Capital Campaign involves construction of a 14,000-square-foot warehouse on

two-and-a-half acres in Pasco. The Second Harvest warehouse will assist in providing more than 7 million pounds of food for hunger-relief in the Columbia Basin annually by 2018.

As part of this project and to provide support for our local community, we donated our staff time, our equipment, and a majority of the supplies and materials to design and install the landscape for the Second Harvest distribution center warehouse. Although, we were able to get donations of some of the materials from our vendors including Ewing Irrigation, HD Fowler, Garden Gate Nursery, Mac’s Garden Center, Hanes Geo Components, and Artistic Curbing.
